WhatsApp is the most popular messaging application which is used by almost 1.2 billion people every month. Back in February, WhatsApp released a major update in which company made some big changes to the application. In this update, WhatsApp removed a feature called “Text Status” and introduced a new way of status. This new ‘Status’ was same like Snapchat and Instagram stories.
WhatsApp status update has not received so much attention as people trolled new update on all social platforms. The old Status feature was very much used and liked by all the users. The company mentioned in a statement,
“We heard from our users that people missed the ability to set a persistent text-only update in their profile, so we’ve integrated this feature into the ‘About’ section in profile settings. Now, the update will appear next to profile names anytime you view contacts, such as when creating a new chat or looking at Group info. At the same time, we’re continuing to build on the new Status feature that gives people fun and engaging ways to share photos, videos and GIFs with their friends and family throughout their day.”

During last week, old text statuses reappeared in application’s Beta version. So users written inspiring quotes, lyrics and other lines are back again under ‘About and phone number’ section in profiles. Initially, this new feature is only available for beta users and will be released to all in next weekend and iOS users have to wait a little more for this new update.

So this new update is bringing back the old status feature which was widely loved by the WhatsApp users. WhatsApp previous update (Which introduced new Status feature) failed to get the attraction of its users.
